Good morning. This is James Carr with your Ourturn Records News morning update.

In Niagara Falls, a $25 million student housing project called University Gateway is coming to two historic buildings on Main Street — including the 1908 L.S. Silberberg Building. Developers plan 33 to 35 student apartments with up to 102 beds, and hope to break ground in April.

In Buffalo, the Niagara Power Transformer company broke ground Thursday on a more than $71 million expansion near the Buffalo airport — a project supporting power grid modernization.

A federal judge in western New York struck down the state's ban on civilians buying bulletproof vests Wednesday, ruling it violates the Second Amendment. The judge stayed the order for 14 days to allow an appeal — so the ban stays enforceable for now.

And a reminder: early voting in Niagara County begins tomorrow, Saturday, October 24th, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — including the Amtrak train station in Niagara Falls. Tomorrow is also the last day to register to vote.

Stay informed. We report, you decide.
